Some cultural stories that surround poetry are:
Poetry is confusing- I think people feel this way because when students are taught about poetry in school they are taught that poems include symbols, imagery, metaphors, have hidden meanings and so on. What's even worse is that students are forced to analyze poetry to find all of these things which is a very hard, frustrating, and confusing task.
Poetry is hard to understand- I think people don't connect to or understand poetry because they are forced to believe a poem means a certain thing. People aren't allowed to feel how they want to towards a poem because in school poems have set meanings so it makes them hard to connect to.
